Restplätze für das Sommerprogramm der Wake Forest Law School

Die School of Law der Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA) veranstaltet im Juli zum sechsten mal ein Sommerprogramm am Juridicum in Wien. Heuer wird ein vierwöchiger Kurs angeboten, an denen auch eine beschränkte Anzahl österreichischer Studierender kostenlos teilnehmen kann. Der Kurs kann sowohl als Fremdsprachennachweis als auch als Wahlfachveranstaltung angerechnet werden. Der Kurs findet vom 5. bis zum 29. Juli jeweils Montag bis Donnerstag 9 bis 12 Uhr statt.

Course description:

International and Comparative Environmental Law (Professor Richard Schneider)

International and Comparative Environmental Law, taught by Professor Richard Schneider, will examine trends in environmental lawmaking on the national and international level. Comparisons will be offered between U.S. and EU approaches to particular environmental problems. The influence of international initiatives will also be discussed. The
principal area of inquiry will be the very different approaches to the issue of climate change in the U.S. and the EU. Field trips include a steel mill and a wind farm. The course will be especially exciting as we investigate the results of the Copenhagen 2009 climate change meeting. An exam will be given after the conclusion of the program.

Professor Richard Schneider teaches courses in International Business Transactions, European Community Law, Environmental Law, Comparative Law, and Law, Literature, and Culture. Before coming to Wake Forest he practiced law in the New York and Brussels offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. Professor Schneider joined the Wake Forest faculty in 1992 and served as Assistant Professor of Law from 1992-95, Associate Professor of Law from 1995-98 and Professor of Law since 1998.  He received his B.A. degree from Colorado in 1976, his M.A. from Yale in 1979 and his J.D. from New York University in 1983.
